The #1 powerhouse country when it comes to beauty pageantry, Venezuela, crowned Vanessa Andrea Goncalves Gomez as Miss Venezuela 2010 and she will be Venezuela's official representative for Miss Universe 2011, which is going to take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Goncalves represented her place, Miranda, and bested other really gorgeous candidates of Miss Venezuela 2010. Goncalves also bagged the Best Body Award. She is 24 years old, stands 5 ft. and 9 1/2 inch tall and speaks Spanish and Portuguese. As we can remember, Marelisa Gibson-the country's representative in last year's MU pageant didn't make it to semifinals after Venezuela made a record-breaking back-to-back victory of Dayana Mendoza (Miss Universe 2008) and Stefania Frenandez (Miss Universe 2009) . Thus, pageant enthusiasts are really hoping for Ms. Goncalves to bring home the crown. But others also commented that she looks matured and doesn't have the X-factor for the crown. A lot may have already spoken but for sure, just like what we all know, Venezuela will surely rock the Miss Universe stage. Ms. Goncalves has much time for training and polishing.
On the other hand, the 21-year old International Studies student from Amazonas Ivian Lunasol Sarcos Colmenares won the Miss Venezuela World 2010 and Most Beautiful Face Award.Miss Venezuela International 2010 was Jessica Cristina Barboza Schmidt, a 23-year-old Law student from Distrito Capital who also was the representative of Venezuela to Miss Earth 2009 and won 2nd runner up or Miss Earth-Water held in the Philippines. Both Miss Venezuela World and Miss Venezuela International will represent 2011 editions of Miss World and Miss International pageants respectively.
Miss Aragua, 18-year-old Caroline Gabriela Medina Peschiutta also won the Miss Photogenic Award and was chosen to compete in Miss Earth 2011. Below is a list of finalists and recipients of special awards:
